The U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) passed a number of area source regulations for the control of Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs*).
These new rules may impact businesses in Spokane County. Below you will find information on the different rules, links to the rules on EPA's website as well as notification forms, if available.

- Major Sources Boilers & Process Heaters - Dec. 2011, EPA proposed reconsideration of rule, currently in 60-day comment period. Due to delay in rule, notification and compliance is likely delayed.

- Perc Dry Cleaners - Existing dry cleaners, those installed on or after December 9, 1991 and before December 21, 2005, must be in compliance with the new standards by July 28, 2008. Key new requirements include monthly lead inspections using a halogenated hydrocarbon detector or perc gas analyzer and notification of compliance form submittal.
