Mow Down Air Pollution Contest
THE MOW DOWN AIR POLLUTION CONTEST ENDED JULY 31, 2010.

Did you know?
- 40 million lawn mowers consume 200 million gallons of gasoline each summer.
- One gas-powered lawnmower emits 11 times the air pollution of a new car for each hour of operation!
- Gas powered garden tools emit 5% of the nations air pollution.
- Emissions from gas-powered yard and garden equipment contributes to the creation of ground-level ozone—a hazardous air pollutant.
- Ozone affects air quality in the summer. There are a variety of ways you can help reduce air pollution this summer, such as switching
to electric or manual-powered yard tools where feasible.

- Consider electric or manual-powered yard and garden tools when it's time to replace your gas-powered equipment.
- Use a gas can that is easy to handle and use a funnel spout with a stop device to prevent overfilling.

- Avoid over-filling your vehicle's gas tank.
